FIVE Australian hotels have been named amongst the world's best in an annual online travel survey.
On the Beach Holiday Apartments and Courtyard by Marriott in Queensland – along with the Four Seasons, Swissotel and Shangri-La in Sydney – were all named in the exclusive list of the world's top hotels by online travel company Expedia.
More than 80,000 properties worldwide were surveyed by Expedia travellers, who selected their favourite hotels based on value, service and customer ratings.
The Sofitel Chicago Water Tower in the US was named the world's best hotel, followed by JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa in Cancun. Hotel 1000 in Seattle came in third.
On the Beach Holiday Apartments on Trinity Beach, Tropical North Queensland, was Australia's highest ranking hotel at 72.
"The Expedia Insiders' Select list makes it easier for Australian travellers to sort through thousands of hotel options to choose the best hotel for their trip," said Kristi Barrow, Expedia Marketing Director Australia and New Zealand.
