Viagra may be banned from international sports after indications that athletes are using the anti-impotence treatment to improve performance.

The World Anti-Doping Agency is considering adding the drug to its list of illegal substances. The agency tracks the use of drugs that enhance sporting prowess and is to conduct research into the medicine, which can boost blood flow to the lungs.

Three Chinese "technical assistants'' will run with the Olympic flame in the Canberra leg of the torch relay, Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates says.

Mr Coates said another three of the tracksuit-clad personnel would be reserves for the run tomorrow.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and other Australian officials have insisted the Chinese personnel will not play any security role.
