Microsoft announces the first full release of Photosynth. Photosynth takes a collection of regular photographs and reconstructs the scene or object in a 3-D environment.
First there was the snapshot, and then came video. Now there is Photosynth, a new service available at photosynth.com that will change the way you experience and share photos.

Installation
Installation is very much like Vista's, with some extra graphicy bits & different wording. The entire installation process took just over 20mins to complete. Unfortunately I don't have any screenshots of this as it was on real hardware and no camera to hand!
So Microsoft’s Sinofsky had a pretty good dance with CNET about Windows 7, really not saying much of anything. But a picture’s worth a thousand words, right? Howzabout a ton of pics?
We can confirm these are indeed screen shots of the current build of Windows 7 as it will be introduced in 2010, but keep in mind that’s three years away and many changes might be made. We’re hoping it’s better than Vista.

Windows users who visit a booby-trapped site with Safari could be forced to download and execute malicious files with no prompting, Microsoft says. The "blended threat" is a result of the default download location in Safari and the way the Windows desktop handles executable files.
Read more »Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are not doing enough to eliminate potentially harmful chemicals and metals from their games consoles, Greenpeace has said.
The body examined materials used inside the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
Greenpeace said that while all three machines complied with European laws, the consoles still contained harmful materials that "needed to be replaced".
Microsoft Corp. is once again trying to team up with Yahoo Inc. to challenge Internet search and advertising leader Google Inc., although at this point the renewed talks haven't escalated to another attempt to take over Yahoo.
The Redmond, Wash.-based software maker disclosed the revived discussions Sunday without providing any specifics about the nature of the deal being explored except to say it involved bolstering the companies' position in the online search and advertising markets.
Microsoft will launch Worldwide Telescope, a tool for exploring images of the night sky, by the end of May, free to anyone who wants to use it, Microsoft's chairman said Friday.
Worldwide Telescope is software that allows people to gaze at the universe through the data collected by telescopes all around the world - and above it: there's even data from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.
Read more »Microsoft UK is developing a "senior PC", which will have a simple interface and be aimed at older users.
The PC will come with software that allows users to manage prescriptions as well as simplified tools for everyday use, such as managing photos.
The machine, which it is developing in partnership with charities Age Concern and Help the Aged, is one of several projects the firm is working on.
The plans were unveiled at a Digital Inclusion conference in London.
In the UK alone, some 17 million citizens are described as "digitally excluded".
