Costumed workers during labor protest

Cinderella, Snow White, Tinkerbell and other fictional fixtures of modern-day childhood were handcuffed, frisked and loaded into police vans Thursday at the culmination of a labor protest that brought a touch of reality to the Happiest Place on Earth.

The arrest of the 32 protesters, many of whom wore costumes representing famous Disney characters, came at the end of an hour-long march to Disneyland's gates from one of three Disney-owned hotels at the center of a labor dispute.

Chimp lands tourism job

Monkey Rock in Poland

Town hall staff in a Poland town have put a chimp on the payroll as a tourism promotions inspector.

The 17-year-old ape, called Bobby, is being paid £70 a month in Radkow to plug a local beauty spot - and is already up for promotion.

Bobby plugs a district called Table Mountains which has a cluster of outcrops known locally as Monkey Rock.

He is taken around the region's capital Wroclaw with a sign on his back advertising the Table Mountains range and his job title of Bobby, Tourism Promotions Inspector, to inspire people to visit.

Beauticians happy with their work

Beauty therapists and hairdressers are the happiest at work, a new survey shows.
The poll of 1,000 adults found workers are more likely to be happy in their job if they get on well with colleagues or have managers who take an interest in them.

And fewer than half stayed in a job because of the size of their pay packet.

The study, for City & Guilds, said beauty therapists and hairdressers were the happiest workers in the UK - with builders and bankers the least content with their working lives.
